History of Winnersh Warren

There have been devilbunny warrens in England as long as anywhere else in the world. How long that might be is lost, but it has been quite a while. A London warren has always been the chief warren of the country, and currently it is known as Westminster Warren. Until May 1997 it was under the command of Lord Protector Lucky. We are not sure quite how or why, but Lucky is now in exile. Binky Bunny, Guardian of Morborne Warren, probably knows more, but isn't telling. The UK warrens are under the command of the Warren Leaders Council, who meet at Westminster Warren. Chief Mentat Bobtail is not on this council due to some very dubious acts by its electoral commission.

There are various other warrens scattered across the countryside, some large, some small, some now forgotten and abandoned.

One such warren was Reading Warren, set in the grounds of Whiteknights Park. This was a beautiful park, with a cute mock stone circle and grotto. Then, between the wars, Reading University was founded, and in time the University bought up the parkland, and made it the primary campus. The lakes, woodland and fine trees remain for the most part, and now it's full of students, who are, as everyone knows, often suckers for admirers of the cute.

The warren was doing well enough in this environment, and was in a prime position to exploit encourage the computer companies that were arriving in Berkshire. Thus it was in the early 1980's Reading Warren sent out colonies along "Silicon Valley" to monitor these incoming groups, with the encouragement of Devilbunnies in the USA. At least three of these colonies prospered, and they all were along the line of the Reading to Waterloo rail track, at East Reading, Winnersh Triangle and Bracknell. This gave rise to a grand scheme to run a cut-down bunny mover link between the three under the rail track. The centre colony being the lead colony, the trio became known as Winnersh Warren. Us <Stomp>.

SubversionAssistance of the assorted companies above the three parts of the warren proceeded apace, until something happened.

We are not allowed to talk about what happened, but whatever it was, Lord Protector Lucky sorted it all out. Ask him when he is in a bunevolant mood. Which he won't be, as he is in exile. However, during that time we had to be very, very, quiet.

But now we can talk with the outside world once more. So we will <fluff> Are you not glad that we are back <querywiggle>

OK, so there is no record of any posting from Winnersh until late 1996. That is because of Lord Protector Lucky's careful removal of any mention of us. Or something.
We have little in the way of milbuns now. Lord Protector Lucky protected us, and now the Warren Leaders Council has taken on this role. Anyway, they say that Milbuns in a civilian warren get idle, and Inle finds work for idle hands. And that work tends to be treason. So our leaders have made sure we have few milbuns to get idle.

Of course, we do have some mentats doing weapons research, who are eager to test out their ideas. Purely in self-defence, of course.
