Symps, Squirrels, Scotsmen and Such-like

Not surprisingly, given our purpose of feeding information into the local computer companies we need a fair few symps in those companies. Some are in positions of power, to give us control good communications. Others, like that Kevin Blackburn, are scattered through the companies to provide a fall back position if our main contact fails, and to give us feedback from amongst the employees.

However, Kevin is also our most public symp. This is perhaps not surprising as he is publicly listed as the contact and founder for the Wynn Fan Club, and is an active poster in his own right. As such, he seems to have attracted the attention of various oddballs. One of the more persistent is a Glaswegian called Ed, who seems to be giving the Scotsbuns a run for their money. He was nearly caught in a sub in Dinton Pastures, but ran way just before we netted him. No, just don't ask any more.

We've had no trouble with enhanced squirrels here in Winnersh Warren so far. There seems to be no signs of treason amongst them. Perhaps this is because Bobtail has come to the stunning conclusion that if we don't over-exploit them, the squirrels will have no reason to rebel. Of course, we use them as observers and pick pockets and other less than safe activities, but we don't go in for forcing them to do our burrowing for us. Let's hope this continues.
We are lucky (no pun intended) to be living in urbanised England. The loss to Mother Nature is sad, but it does mean that people cannot wander the streets with fire axes or shotguns over their shoulders. Indeed, even adults toting super soakers would get strange looks (not students, though). Furthermore, there are loads of security cameras around, especially in the areas chosen for our warrens. Thus a Fudd frontal assault would be doomed to quick arrests and long prison sentences, even without our intervention. Our constant worry is losing control our communications into the chosen companies. This might result in some distinctly uncute software getting out there which would not be a good thing <stomp>. Subversion and sabotage is a real concern.
No serious signs of this yet, but we are vigilant ...
